DeSales Community Development - Summer Associate VISTA

DeSales Community Development is seeking a Summer Associate VISTA to strengthen its Community Services Coordination program, which connects affordable‑housing residents and neighbors with resources that promote housing stability, economic mobility, youth development, and overall physical and mental health. The Summer Associate VISTA will expand DeSales’ public‑health impact by supporting the Redbird Rookies youth baseball league—offered free of charge to ensure equitable access to recreation—and by helping enhance Resident Resource Night & Community Meals, a monthly program linking families to essential services. Their work will include program evaluation and the design of a health‑focused Resource Night, ultimately benefiting 200 youth and 50 households, all of whom live at or below 60% of the area median income.

The key responsibilities of the Summer Associate VISTA will be:

• Support Community Services Manager with Redbird Rookies parent, volunteer, and organizational communication by maintaining team rosters, drafting promotional materials and copy, and taking pictures at league events.

• Attend all Redbird Rookies off-field events (museum visit, baseball clinic, arts performance, etc.) and support event promotion for enrolled families.

• Provide support by coaching one youth baseball team (if needed). 

• Support marketing, participant recruitment, logistics, and evaluation for health-focused Resident Resource Night & Community Meal.

• Help conduct surveys and analyze data for mid-year Resident Resource Night program evaluation to inform program improvements.
