Affinia Healthcare - Summer Associate VISTA

Affinia Healthcare is a non for profit, community health center, offering medical, dental, behavioral health, community health services, WIC, and other clinical, ancillary, and patient support services for over 42,700 patients annually. Among our many services, Affinia Healthcare addresses youth behavioral health needs, including mentoring and internship opportunities, supportive of developmental growth, learning and a bridge to healthy adult wellbeing. Affinia Healthcare also addresses hunger and food insecurity and healthy nutrition, including launching an urban garden; disaster relief efforts with a focus on addressing immediate health needs and removing access barriers; and a vast array of public health needs, such as health education activities, free health fairs offering multiple services and resources, vaccine and testing services in the community and other public health services.

The key responsibilities of the Summer Associate VISTAs will be:

• Assist Outreach and Community Health staff with planning and running health fairs by helping with event setup, coordinating with departments and community partners, and supporting participants throughout the events.

• Strengthen food‑access initiatives by distributing food during pantry days and supporting the Urban Garden and rain‑garden projects through planting, maintenance, supply inventory, and sharing nutrition information with patients.

• Contribute to disaster‑relief efforts in tornado‑impacted areas by matching resources to identified needs, organizing and distributing donated items, and helping promote health screenings and access to care for affected individuals.

• Support organizational capacity by assisting staff with grant writing and fundraising activities that sustain health fairs, food‑access programs, garden projects, and broader public‑health initiatives.
