St. Louis Oasis - Summer Associate VISTA

St. Louis Oasis Tutoring pairs older adult volunteers with K–3 students who need extra support in literacy and math, providing consistent one‑on‑one mentoring that strengthens academic skills and nurtures meaningful intergenerational relationships. The program partners with school districts across Missouri—particularly those serving high‑poverty communities—to reach the students who benefit most from individualized support. This summer, a Summer Associate VISTA will help expand the program’s reach by supporting volunteer recruitment, training, and the Summer Literacy Program, which is expected to engage more than 200 new volunteers and 80–100 active tutors.

The key responsibilities of the Summer Associate VISTA will be:

  • Coordinate recruiting new volunteers.

  • Help develop community relationships and partnerships.

  • Support the Summer Literacy Program and Tutor University Program that provides learning opportunities for our tutors.
